Biography

Prof Karam F A Soliman is a distinguished Professor and Assistant Dean for Research at the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Florida AM University. He obtained his PhD degree from the University of Georgia in the area of Physiology and Endocrinology in 1972. Dr. Soliman is the Program Director of a Multimillion Dollar grant from the NIH, NCRR, RCMI. He has an active research laboratory within the College of Pharmacy in the area of Neurodegeneration and Neurotoxicology. His major research emphasis is on the Metabolic Regulation in Injured Neurons. Dr. Soliman has published 139 research articles and two textbooks contributed as author/co-author. He has obtained over 66 million in research funding from NIH NASA Office of Naval Research and Department of Energy. He has trained 24 PhD students, 21 MS students and 11 Postdoctoral Fellows. In 2010, Dr Soliman was the recipient of Florida AM University Distinguished Researcher Award. In1997, he was named 3M Endowed Distinguished Professor and is an active member of American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, American Association, American Physiological Society, Endocrine Society, Society of Experimental Biology and Medicine American Society for Investigative Pathology Society for Neuroscience and American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.
