Biography

Dr. Augustine J. Kposowa is currently working as Full Professor at Sociology Department, University of California, Riverside. He has completed his PhD in Sociology from The Ohio State University in 1990. His prior working experience includes appointed as Lecturer at University of Cincinnati, Teaching Assistant/Research Assistant at The Ohio State University and Visiting Assistant Professor, Assistant Professor at Sociology Department, Wayne State University. His main area of research interest focuses on Epidemiology of Suicides and Suicidal Behavior Social factors and Morbidity and Mortality Health Disparities, Comparative Political Economy, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Criminology and Criminal Justice, African Political Economy and Instability, Applications of Multilevel Models, and Applications of Categorical and Survival Data Analysis. He has published 2 books, 8 refereed/ non refereed technical reports, and 8 book chapters, review 2 books, 70 research articles in journals, 34 papers in professional meeting contributed as author/co-author. He also completed 14 funded/non funded research projects as principal investigator and co-investigator. He is also serving as editor and reviewer for number of journals. He is member of American Public Health Association, American Sociological Association, American Society of Criminology, American Statistical Association, Association of Black Sociologists, Pacific Sociological Association, and American Civil Liberties Union.
