Biography

Dr. Isiaka Adekunle AMOO was born in 1962. His academic qualifications are B.Sc. (Hons) in Industrial Chemistry, M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry. Dr. Amoo did his National Youth Corps in 1985/86 in former Sokoto State Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, Nigeria where he started his teaching academic career in 1986 to 1995. He was employed into the Department of Chemistry, Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Ondo State, Nigeria as Lecturer II in the year 1995. He rose to the position of a Professor of Analytical and Environmental Chemistry in 2007. In the Polytechnic, he was Head of Chemistry Unit in the Department of Science Laboratory Technology and Department Examination Officer. In FUTA, he was Associate Director for Science Laboratory Technology/Medical Laboratory Technology and other Non-degree programme in the Centre for Continuing Education and Head of Chemistry Department. He had his Sabbatical leave in Bells University of Technology, Otta, Ogun State, Nigeria where he was the Head of Department of Chemical Sciences for 2007 to 2009 Sessions. During these periods, he was able to get full accreditation for the Industrial Chemistry and Biochemistry options of the Department. He has graduated 45 M. Tech Students, 13 Ph .D Students and he has 96 publications in reputable journals, both nationally and internationally. He has attended 35 local and 8 international conferences. Dr. Amoo is a member of University Senate, Students Welfare Board, University Inter-Religious Body and School of Sciences Board of Studies. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Laboratory Science, Official Publication of Nigeria Institute of Science Laboratory Technology, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology and Editor/ Reviewer to Science Alert Journals. He is a Professorial Accessory and External Examiner to many Universities such as University of Benin, Benin City Nigeria, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Nigeria, Fountain University, Osogbo, Nigeria, Covenant University, Otta, Nigeria and University of the Western Cape in South Africa etc. Dr. Amoo is a member of Nigerian Universities Commission Accreditation Team and also Panel Review on Environmental Impact Assessment of the Federal Ministry of Environment, Nigeria.
