Biography

Dr. Oluwatoyin Adepeju Odeku holds a position of Professor at University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria, and Visiting Professor at Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelms Universitaet Bonn, Germany. Previously he was appointed as Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer II, Lecturer I, Senior Lecturer, and Associate Professor at University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria, Postdoctoral Fellow at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, Visiting Scientist, University of Manchester School of Pharmacy, Visiting Scientist, Shanghai Institute of Material Medica, China, Senior Scientist, Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology & Biopharmacy, Martin Luther University, Germany, and Visiting Professor, JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty, India. He has completed his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. Dr. Oluwatoyin received honors includes West African Research Association (WARA) Travel Grant, NUC Award for supervising the best Thesis in Pharmacy for Year 2008, CV Raman International Fellowship for African Researchers, DAAD Visiting Scholar Fellowship, UNESCO/Israel Co-sponsored Post-Doctoral Fellowship, and received number of research grants. He is a fellow of West African Research Association (WARA), and West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacy (WAPCP), member of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Organization for Women in Science in Developing World (OWSDW), Nigerian Association of Pharmacists in Academia (NAPA), and Association of Lady Pharmacists (Alps). He is also serving as member of editorial board and reviewer for number for number of journals. Dr. Oluwatoyin has published 13 research articles in journals, 1 technical report, and 13 conference papers contributed as author/co-author. His research focuses on novel drug delivery systems, evaluation of local gums and starches as polymers for the formulation of beads and microspheres for drug delivery, development of native and modified starches as directly compressible excipients in pharmaceutical tablets, evaluation of local starches as binders and disintegrants in tablet formulations, Evaluation of local gums a directly compressible matrix system for controlled rug delivery, studies on mechanisms of compression and tableting of pharmaceutical powders and their formulations, and Formulation of plant extracts into conventional dosage forms.
