Biography

Dr. Argaw Ambelu Bayih is currently working as Associate Professor at Jimma University Ethiopia. He obtained his Ph.D. in Applied Biological Sciences from Ghent University, Belgium in 2009. In the process of his education and training and collaborative research works in the past five years, he has acquired a lot of knowledge and skills in the fields of Environmental Health (exposure and health risk assessment, water and wastewater handling and treatment, sanitation, environmental pollution and prevention), Ecology and Climate Change, Vector Control and Ecotoxicology. Some of the research activities such as Watershed Management and Immune Modulatory effect of Environmental Contaminants are undertaken by PhD students under his supervision. Currently he is a Principal Investigator for Ecological and Disease Vector Modelling in Ethiopian Aquatic Systems. He is member of Environmental Society of Ethiopia, Ethiopian Society of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control, Public Health Association of Ethiopia, and Society of Ecological Modeling. He also received grants for his research work. He also received scholarship award from Belgian Government for his MSc and PhD study at Ghent University. He has 22 publication in journals contributed as author/co-author.
