Biography
Dr. Atanas Georgiev Atanasov is currently working as Senior Researcher at the Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Vienna, Austria. He obtained his PhD in Biochemistry from University of Bern, Switzerland in 2005. His area of research focuses on Molecular Mechanisms of Pharmacological Action, Cell Signalling and Regulatory Pathways relevant for Inflammation and Cardio Metabolic Disease, Discovery and Characterization of Novel Bioactivities of Natural Products, Use of Small Molecules as Tools for Biological Systems Manipulation and Basic Research (Chemical Biology). Dr. Atanas Georgiev received number of honors includes Focus of Excellence Award 2012, POENIX Pharmacy Science Award, Research Fellowship from Roche Research Foundation, Award for Excellent Performance during Studies, and Awarded 20 times a State Fellowship from the Republic of Bulgaria. He is a recipient of various research grants. He is professional member of American Chemical Society, and American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is also working as editorial board member of Frontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, Leader of MedChemNet, Reviewer for the Evaluation of Research Proposals, Advisory board member of Biocognizance, and Referee for 17 international peer-reviewed journals. He is also invited to deliver lectures in many Universities. He has 55 publications in journals contributed as author/co-author.
