Biography

Elena Gregoris works on the analysis of organic pollutants in various environmental matrices. Areas of interest include aerosol sampling, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis, application of statistical techniques for source apportionment. She worked on several European projects, managed collaborations for research activities also with private companies, she has been co-supervisor of some theses. She studied in Venice, where she obtained a Bachelor in Chemistry in 2005 and a Master in Chemistry and Environmental Compatibility in 2007, both with flying colors. In 2011 she obtained a double degree of PhD in Chemical Sciences at the Ca 'Foscari University of Venice and in Biological Sciences, at the Universidade Estadual Paulista of Botucatu (San Paolo - Brazil). During her doctorate she worked on the assessment of the antioxidant activity in food, including fruit and propolis. Between 2009 and 2010 she spent a 6 months period in the Institute of Biosciences of the University of Sao Paulo, working on fruits originating in the tropical zone of Brazil, scarcely studied until then. In 2011-2012 she taught chemistry and science in some high schools. She was research fellow at the Institute for the Dynamics of Environmental Processes (IDPA-CNR) in the period 2012-2017, research technologist of the ECOMOBILITY project at Ca' Foscari University of Venice in 2017-2018 and III level researcher at ISP-CNR starting from July 2018.
