Biography

Dr. Valentin Robledo Torres is a full-time research professor at the Antonio Narro Autonomous Agrarian University (UAAAN). He specializes in plant genetic improvement, which has earned him membership in the Variety Qualifier Committee of the National Seed Inspection and Certification Service. He has been a Level 1 national researcher since 2006. Dr. Robledo's research focuses on the genetic improvement of plants for use in protected environments, with the goal of maximizing the genetic potential of crops, making efficient use of resources, minimizing environmental damage, and, to the extent possible, producing under regenerative production systems. Other highly relevant projects include chromosome duplication in economically important horticultural species, which has significantly increased plant vigor and yield. Furthermore, increased tolerance to biotic and abiotic factors has been observed in polyploidy, which offers great potential for their use as rootstocks. His research work, has allowed him to participate in various scientific meetings, such as congresses, symposia or colloquia and to publish 77 scientific articles, in national and international indexed journals. Reaching 1395 citations at national and international level so far. In addition to his scientific work, he has distinguished himself in his administrative work related to research. From 2004 to 2005, he served a head of Graduate School Control, and on 2006, he participated in the restructuring of the Master`s Program in Horticulture. From 2006 to 2013 he was head of the Master`s Program n Horticulture. From 2014 to 2017 he has deputy director of projects programing and evaluation and from 2017 to 2018, rsearch director at UAAAN.
