Biography

Dr Ab Aziz Al-Safi Ismail is holds a position of Professor in Epidemiology and Deputy Coordinator of Diabetes Centre, Hospital University of Science (USM). He obtained his PhD in The University of Liverpool, UK and MD from National University of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. He is also an advisor to the Kelantan State Road Safety Board and heads the research unit of the board. He is member of many scientific societies such as Malaysian Medical Association, Malaysian Society of Health, British Diabetic Association, International Diabetic Federation, American Diabetic Association, Council member of Persatuan Diabetes Malaysia, Secretary of Persatuan Diabetes Malaysia (Malaysian Diabetes Association) Kelantan Branch, Malaysian Public Health Specialist Association, Academy of Medicine (Malaysia)- College of Public Health Medicine Specialist, and committee member of Action on Smoking and Health Malaysian Medical Association. Dr Ab Aziz Al-Safi received honors includes Excellent Award from Ministry of Health, Malaysia, and from Universiti Sains Malaysia, He successfully completed number of research projects funded by different agencies. Prof. Dr. Ab. Aziz al-Safi had a number of publications in peer review/international journal such as Diabetic Medicine, Bailleers Best Practice & Research, Practical diabetic International and International Journal of Epidemiology as well as proceeding and abstract of paper presented at major meeting/conferences. As recognition of his expertise and experience in the field of Epidemiology and Diabetes, he has also been invited to give lectures by other universities on a number of occasions and to examine thesis submitted by students for M Sc and PhD degrees.
