Biography
Dr. Allan Manalo is currently working as Post-doctoral Research and Teaching Fellow in Faculty of Engineering and Surveying, University of Southern Queensland, Australia. He has completed his Master degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering (Structural Engineering) from Saitama University, Saitama, Japan, and Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from University of Southern Queensland, Australia. His area of research interest focuses on Fibre Composites for Civil Infrastructures, Sandwich Structures, Hybrid Composite Materials, Housing Materials and Construction Technologies, Timber Design and Engineering, Testing and Analysis of Construction Materials. He is member of editorial board in International Journal of Materials Engineering. Previously he was appointed as Assistant Project Engineer at the Real Horizon, Inc. A Realty and Development Company, Anos, Los Banos, Laguna, Philippines, Lecturer, Department of Civil Engineering, University of the Philippines Los Banos, College, Laguna, Philippines, Science Research Specialist at Forest Products Research and Development Institute (FPRDI), Department of Science and Technology, FPRDI, College, Laguna, Philippines and Tutor /Facilitator/Marker in Faculty of Engineering and Surveying, University of Southern Queensland. Dr. Allan received honors includes USQ Postgraduate Research Scholarship Award, Faculty of Engineering and Surveying Postgraduate Research Excellence Award, University of Southern Queensland, USQ Faculty of Engineering and Surveying Scholarship Award, Certificate of Excellence from Japan Society of Civil Engineers for the best paper and presentation in the Ninth International Summer Symposium, and Likha Award 2000 in National Competition for Creative Research during the National Inventors Week. He is member of International Institute for FRP in Construction (IIFC), Concrete Institute of Australia, Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, and Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines. He has published 8 research articles in journals, 27 articles in conference, workshops and symposiums contributed as author/co-author.
