Biography

I am Dr. Md Nuhu Alam, Professor and former Chairman of the Department of Botany, and former Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences at Jahangirnagar University, Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. I earned my B.Sc. (Honors) and M.Sc. (Thesis group) degrees in Botany from the University of Rajshahi, followed by an M.Phil. from Jahangirnagar University. I completed my Ph.D. with distinction from Incheon National University in the Republic of Korea. I have been awarded two postdoctoral fellowships-one from UPM under the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and another from the Korean Government. I have also previously served as a Visiting Professor at Incheon National University. Early in my career, I worked at Ciba Geigy (Bangladesh) Ltd on rice diseases before joining Jahangirnagar University as a Lecturer in Mycology and Plant Pathology in 1997. I played a central role in establishing the Laboratory of Mycology and Plant Pathology and have received multiple research grants from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, and the University Grants Commission (UGC). My research has resulted in the publication of many peer-reviewed articles in national and international journals, including RSC Advances, Phytopathology, Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Physiology, Mycology, Molecules, and others spanning fields such as agriculture, microbiology, botany, medicinal mushrooms, and plant tissue culture. I have authored two books: a research monograph titled Phylogenetic Analysis and Pharmaceutical Effects of Oyster Mushroom (Scholar Press) and an academic textbook on Advanced Plant Pathology and Crop Protection for postgraduate students
