Biography

Dr. Manzer Hussain Siddiqui, Associate Professor, Department of Botany & Microbiology, King Saud University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, born on 6th December 1977 in India. He received B.Sc. (1997), M.Sc. (2000) and Ph.D. (2005) degrees in Botany from the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). After Ph.D., he joined as a Young Scientist (DST) in the AMU in 2007. Also, he has received awards, fellowships and research grants including the National Plan for Sciences and Technology (NPST), KSA, the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, India, the Science and Technology, Government of Uttar Pradesh, India and the National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic. Dr. Siddiqui’s research focuses on the crop production with special emphasis on the management strategies of different fertilizers and plant growth regulators under different environmental conditions. He established the role nitrate reductase and ATP-sulphurylase in connection with tolerance of rapeseed-mustard genotypes to salt stress. Also, his laboratory focuses on the emerging field of plant physiology and nanotechnology, as we know that nanoparticles have unique physico-chemical properties, but their impact on plant metabolism is essentially unexplored. His research aims to explore the beneficial role of nanoparticles in plant growth and metabolism under abiotic stress. He is also interested in exploring the physiological and molecular basis of mechanisms leading to loss of pollen viability due to drought and heat stresses.

Area of Interest:
