Biography

Rahmatullah Qureshi obtained M. Sc. (Botany) in 1996 from the Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur (Mir’s), Sindh, Pakistan. He joined as Research Associate at the same University on 25th September, 1998 and served up to 31st December, 2001. He got his PhD degree in Taxonomy/ethnobotany from Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur (Mir’s), Sindh, Pakistan during 2005. He joined as Seed Certification Officer on 4th January, 2002. He started his teaching career by joining the Department of Botany, PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, Pakistan as Assistant Professor in 2007. Based on his research and teaching achievement, he has been promoted first Associate Professor (Regular) in 2010 and then on TTS in the Department of Botany. His research interest includes ethnobotany, medicinal plants and their bioactivity, floristic and systematic accounts of native plants, plant biodiversity & conservation, phytosociology and weed ecology. He published 130+plus research papers in prestigious peer-reviewed journals, 2 books from the Nova Science publishers, USA and 2 invited international book chapters. So far, Dr. Qureshi has successfully supervised 34 M. Phil and 5 PhD theses (4 HEC awardee) and completed 12 research projects and currently 13 research theses including 6 PhDs and 7 M. Phil theses are under supervision. He won five research productivity awards by the Pakistan Council for Science & Technology (PCST) based on his publications, impact factor, number citations, etc. He has presented 28 abstracts at various national and international symposia/conferences/workshops. From 2011, he is a member of the executive council of the Pakistan Botanical Society as Vice President (Punjab). He is continuously encouraging and looking forward outstanding national/international researchers to collaborate with his research group.
