Biography

Farhan Vakani, Ph.D. is an Associate professor and Director of the Dow Institute of Health Professionals Education at Dow University of Health Sciences. Dr. Farhan Vakani is a recognized Ph.D. supervisor of Medical Education by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). He obtained his Ph.D. in Medical Education from the University of New South Wales, specializing in continuing medical education. His Ph.D. studies at the University of New South Wales were funded through a full scholarship from the School of Population Health. His research focuses on developing recommendations and re-imagining CME to influence educational practices in countries of the Eastern Mediterranean and South-East Asian regions. He sat on the faculty board of medicine advisory committee at UNSW, where he served as a student representative in higherdegree research. He brings years of professional experience working as faculty medical education at the College of Medicine & Dentistry Hamdard University Pakistan, faculty of dental education at Qassim College of Dentistry Saudi Arabia, and has undergone experiential learning with continuing medical education offices in the U.S. universities such as the University of Alabama Birmingham; University of Louisville School of Medicine; and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine In the past, Farhan has managed the Department for Continuing Professional Education at the Aga Khan University Pakistan where he has organized hundreds of professional development activities for physicians and allied. He has volunteered as a scientific committee member for the International Journal of Mentoring and Coaching in Education and has presented at several national and international educational conferences and seminars. Farhan leads supervisory workshops at the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan on educational planning and evaluation and serves as a member of the International Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) Faculty Development Committee.
