Biography
Dr. Sami El Khatib, Associate Professor at the Department of Biological Sciences and Assistant Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences at the Lebanese International University (LIU). I am holding a PhD in Cell Biology and Oncology (2005), a Master Degree in Bioengineering & Biomaterials (2002), a University Diploma in Animal Experimentation (2003) from Henri Poincare University in France, and a BS in Medical Laboratory from Lebanese University (2000). My research work has been focused on the non-invasive techniques of diagnosis and treatment of Bladder Cancer, published in highly ranked international peer reviewed journals. I published my first work conducted in vivo for the usage of Hexvix as a prodrug for the Photodynamic treatment of bladder cancer in rats. I has been involved also in the development of an optoelectronic imaging system (Cell ViZio) based on the use of live fluorescence confocal microscopy for in situ imaging of live tissues and organs. I also developed a reproducible model for solitary bladder cancer in rats adopted as the most favorable model used for many research and pharmacokinetics applications. I am currently working on many topics related to Molecular Biotechnology & Genomic Editing strategies and supervising many Master’s students working on health benefits of food, food extracts, and fortification strategies. During the past years, I authored and co-authored numerous conference articles, books, book chapters in the aforementioned scientific topics. I am currently the Head of the Organizing Committees of many academic and community services events organized by BIU. I have been selected as a member of the Middle East Molecular Biology Society and a member of MEMBS International Advisory Committee.
