Biography
Dr. Lutfi Al- Sharif is currently working as Associate Professor at University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan. He obtained his PhD degree in 1992. He is having 25 year industrial experience and consulting and managerial. He also delivered many courses in the areas of Vertical Transportation Systems, Drives, Instrumentation and Process Control. His research area related to vertical transportation system traffic design and its energy modelling, design of LVDT, remote laboratories, coordinate measuring machines, electromagnetic actuators and mechatronics education. In past he worked as Electronic Design Engineer at Jordan Lift & Crane Manufacturing, Madaba, Jordan, Team Leader, Senior Station Modeller, Delivery Manager at London Underground Ltd, Associate Director at Buildings Transportation, WSP Group, and Director at Al-Sharif Vertical Transportation Consultancy Limited. He is member of following committees, European Escalator Standard (EN115) Electrical Risk Assessment committee, Panel Redrafting Safe working on Escalators Standard, Britis Standards Institution Subcommittee on Mechanical Handling Equipment, Executive Team of the Building Electrical Technology Professional Network of the IET, IET and Chartered Electrical Engineer. He is also an author of Mechatronics Module for the Saylor Foundation, USA. He is also invited as speaker in conferences and also organized conferences. He has published 17 articles in journals, 4 patents, 1 chapter in book, 28 papers in conferences, 17 technical articles published in elevator trade journals as author/co-author.
