Biography

Dr. Paul Iji is a Professor of Animal Science at the University of New England (UNE), Armidale, Australia. He studied in Nigeria (BSc Honours), Scotland (MSc) and Australia (PhD and Graduate Certificate in Higher Education). He has been involved in research and tertiary teaching since 1987, working first in Nigeria, then South Africa and currently Australia. Dr. Ijis main area of research is poultry nutrition, with specialization in gastrointestinal physiology although he has previously been involved in research and teaching on other animal species, including sheep, goats, pigs, cattle and ostrich. Dr. Iji has graduated 14 PhD, 8 Masters and 2 Honours students and currently supervises a large number of PhD and MSc students, at various stages of their programmes. He has also supervised 5 post-doctoral research fellows and hosted a number of visitors in his group. He was recently Postgraduate Coordinator of a large School for two years and currently serves on a number of University committees. Dr. Iji consults for companies involved in the poultry and feed industries. He is on the editorial board of a number of scientific journals and regularly reviews for other journals. He has published over 200 journal papers and conference papers.
