Biography

Professor Dr. Md. A. Mannan is a Ph D from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Salna, Gazipur, Bangladesh. He has a wide range of experience in teachingand research. He started his job career as a Scientific Officer at Cotton Research Centre, Bandorban under Cotton Development Board in the year 1996. Then he started his teaching career as a Lecturer in the Department of Agronomy, Patuakhali Science and Technology University in the year 1997 and worked up to 21th July 2012 as an Associate Professor in this institute. In 22th July 2012 he joined as Associate Professor in the Department of Agronomy, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Salna, Gazipur. Now he is serving as a Professor in this institute and responsible for teaching and supervising MS and Ph. D. students. In the meantime more than 30 graduate students completed their degree and another 6 students are now doing research under his supervision. Dr. Mannan gained excellence on analysis of crop growth processes under stressful environment in his Ph. D course. He published two books and 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals with high impact factor. He has a wide range of experience of successfully conducting research with multidisciplinary research team funded by USDA, KGF (KrishiGobeshona Foundation), Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP), Ministry of Education and ministry of Science and Technology, GoB, University Grants Commission, GoB, Research Management Wing, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA) and Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU). He has experience as consultant in international organization. He is contributing on the editorial board of couple of international scholarly journals. He is an active member of different professional societies. His direction of research is to understand the adaptation mechanisms of crops under environmental stress conditions. The present thrust of his work is on the crop X environment interaction, especially response of field crops under salinity/ water / plant nutrients stress conditions. His thrust of research work also mitigation of drought/salinity stress through biochar, nanofertilizers and sea weed extracts.
