Dr. Sharangouda J. Patil was born and brought up from farming community. Due to his strong will and aspiration for Teaching and Research, he overcame several limitations to develop himself as an eminent researcher and teacher. He completed his Masters (II Rank) in Zoology, subsequently he completed his Doctorate from Gulbarga University, Gulbarga during 2007. Thereafter he has completed post doctoral fellowship (PDF) in World Bank funded project in ICAR reputed National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bangalore. For his post doctoral research Dr. Patil opted to work on livestock extension research extensively. His work involved field research as well as lab research. With his skills and techniques he was very useful for farmers. He has made major contributions in outreach programs of the institute for transfer of technology from lab to land. He also worked in software industry as a Subject Matter Expert of Zoology to develop a E-contents for UG and PG level of all the Karnataka state universities in 2016. During his teaching and research career, he has published more than 58 research articles, 7 book chapters, 5 technical bulletins and several other technical articles in National and International peer reviewed journals. He has participated and presented research paper in more than 78 conferences/ seminar/ workshop/ training's at national and international levels and awarded many best paper presentation awards. His research specialization includes Reproductive Biology, Endocrinology, Animal Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Toxicology, Pharmacology, Medicinal plants and Natural products, Biodiversity and Conservation, Hydrobiology and Limnology. Currently, he is a Member of Indian Society for the Study of Reproduction and Fertility, Indian Science Congress Association, Medicinal Plants-International Journal of Phytomedicines and related Industries, Indian Veterinary Journal, Foundation for Promotion of Basic and Applied Science. Dr. Patil is also serving as an Editor in Chief, Editorial board member, Advisory editorial member, Reviewer to more than 35 journals. His efforts as a teacher and researcher have proved him a man of diverse skills who aspire to set up an academic culture and educational program conducive to student learning and progress. Currently he is working as Associate Professor in School of Sciences, Department of Life Sciences, Garden City University, Bangalore from the 2017 onwards and has around 13 year teaching and research experience in the field of Zoology, Genetics, Biotechnology and Microbiology.
