Biography

Dr. Shri Krishna Raj holds a position of Scientist G/Chief Scientist at Plant Molecular Virology Laboratory, CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow, India. He has received his Ph.D. in Botany from Kanpur University, India. His main area of interest and specializations focuses on Plant Molecular Virology, Biological and Molecular characterization of Plant Viruses, Plant Virus Diagnostics, and Transgenic Plants for Virus Resistance. Dr. Shri Krishna received honors includes Vigyan Ratan Award, Plant Pathology Leadership award, and Fellow of Indian Virological Society and 3 best paper awards. He is life member of Indian Virological Society, Association of Plant Pathologists of India, Indian Phytopathological Society, the Society for Plant Biochemistry & Biotechnology, The National Academy of Sciences, India, National Academy of Agricultural Sciences and annual member of the American Phytopathological Society (APS, USA). He successfully completed 9 research projects as Principal Investigator. He has guided 12 PhD thesis of Lucknow University, and guided several M. Sc., M. Phil., M. Tech. dissertations of various Universities. He also participated in imparting training programs of the institute, Department of Science & Technology, New Delhi and Lucknow University, Lucknow to trained young scientists and post graduate/ research students. He is Editor in Chief in Asian Journal of Plant Pathology, New York, USA, sectional Editor for (Plant Virology) Indian Journal of Virology (Springer publication) and Phytoplathology (Indian Phytopathological Society) and Reviewer for Journal of Phytopathology, Fruits Journal, The Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, Current Science and Journal of Biosciences, The Journal of General and Molecular Virology (JGMV), and African Journal of Agricultural Research. He also reviewed many projects submitted for funding from CSIR, Department of Biotechnology (DBT), New Delhi and Department of Science & Technology (DST). He is a member and Chairman of various committees like: Assessment and Recruitment of scientists, technical officers at NBRI and other CSIR institutes. He has published 210 research articles in national and international journals and book chapters contributed as author/co-author.
