Biography

Dr. Potsangbam KUMARSINGH is currently working as Professor, Centre of Advanced Study in Life Sciences in Department of Life Sciences, Manipur University Canchipur, Imphal and Manipur, India. He obtained his DSc degree from International Open University Colombo, 1997, PhD Degree in the field of Plant Physiology from Manipur University in 1985, MSc in the field of Life Science plant Physiology from J. N. University in 1980. Dr. Potsangbam has 30 years teaching experience at University level. He worked as Professor and Assistant Professor, Senior Lecturer and Head of Department of Botany in M.L. College. Dr. Potsangbam has also 20 years research experience. Dr. Potsangbam Kumar Singh received many awards and honors includes, “Distinguished Scientist Award” by the Organizing Committee of the National Level Conference on Biodiversity, Honored During 2013 for engendering a strong environmental conscience in the state with a Certificate of Appreciation from Government of Manipur. Dr. KUMARSINGH arranged 3 workshops/seminar on following topics, “Three-day State level Training Program on Documentation, Rapid Assessment and Promotion of Local Health Traditions of Manipur”, “Education and Communication of Climate Change for Biodiversity Conservation”, “Documentation, Rapid assessment and Promotion of Local Health Traditions of Manipur”. He also participated in many Workshops and Seminars as member/ resource person. He has published 2 books and 107 articles in national and international journals and 37 research articles in proceedings. He supervised 1 PhD student and 12 PhD students are currently in his supervision. He also supervised 2 Scientist Woman.
