Biography

Dr. Urveshkumar D. Patel is Associate Professor and Head of Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh, Gujarat, India. He has been honoured with Prof. J.P. Trivedi Award by Shri Hari-Om-Ashram, Nadiad, India in 2013 for contribution in the field of Pharmacokinetics of Antibacterial drugs in Domesticated Animals. He has received the Young Scientist Award in 2010 from Indian Society of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology for his work in the field of Pharmacokinetics. He obtained his Ph.D. from College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Anand Agricultural University, Anand, Gujarat, India under the supervision of Dr. A.M Thaker. He received master degree under the supervision of Dr. S.K. Bhavsar from same university. He is acting as an editor and reviewer for more than 10 international scientific journals. The research areas of interest are neurotoxicology, pharmacokinetics of antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs in domestic and laboratory animals, toxicological evaluation of environmental pollutants in zebrafish, pharmacological evaluation of herbal/medicinal plants, identification of active molecules from natural sources for the treatment of diabetes, obesity and other ailments. He has interest in development and validation of HPLC/ preparative HPLC, HPTLC methods for analysis. He guided more than 10 students at post-graduate and doctorate level.
