Biography

Senior Scientist, JK Green Technology, & Adjunct Professor, ITT, Prof. Akhtar Jamal Khan has been working on biochemical and molecular plant pathology since 1985. Prof. Khan has published original research in a wide range of plant pathology including plant diseases caused by fungi, bacteria, nematodes and viruses in several countries across the world. His research includes host-pathogen interaction, biodiversity and molecular characterization of begomoviruses, developing genetic resistance in crops against begomoviruses using pathogen and non-pathogen derived genes. His work has appeared in a number of high impact journals, including Trends in Plant Science, Virus Research, Archives of Virology, Phytopathology, Plant Disease, Viruses, Virus Genes, International Journal of Systematics & Evolutionary Microbiology, Journal of Food Engineering, International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, Carbohydrate Research, Journal of Plant Physiology, Plant & Cell Physiology, and Life Sciences. Prof. Khan serves on a number of editorial boards of international scientific journals and is also engaged as a reviewer for several international scientific and high impact journals. He is a member of a number of local and international scientific and professional organizations including the American Phytopathological Society.
