Dr. Shaul Mordechai (PhD) is a Professor of Physics and Head of the Biomedical Spectroscopy Laboratory at the Department of Physics, Ben Gurion University, Israel. He received his PhD from the Racah Institute of Physics, Hebrew University Jerusalem. His research interest include: Medical Physics, Biomedical Optics, FTIR-Microscopy, FTIR-Imaging, Mid-IR Spectrometry, Fluorescence Spectroscopy, Optical Diagnostics, and Biomedical Applications of Monte Carlo Simulations. He was a Visiting Scientist at the University of Texas at Austin, Los Alamos National Laboratory and the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Member of the Editorial Boards of World Journal of Biological Chemistry (WJBC) and the World Journal of Methodology (WJM), World Journal of Gastroenterology (WJG), Insights in Medical Physics, Associate Editor - Medical Physics, Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He has coauthored many papers in Biomedical Optics, Tissue Microscopy, Optical Diagnostics and Applications of Monte Carlo Simulations in Biomedical Optics. The development of fiber-optics systems for IR spectroscopy and its Monte Carlo simulations have further opened up new and modern avenues in medical diagnosis at various levels of cells, tissues and organs under laboratory and clinical conditions.
